Friday Bullets!

Happy Friday everyone!  There isn’t much going on over here this Friday afternoon.  Luckily I am getting a breather after a busy week.  The good news is company’s seem to be spending money again – I’m seeing good signs there.  I do know that we have a long way to go before this economic recession turns around completely, but I’ll take the baby steps!

I do not cope well with winter [please prepare yourself for many more disgruntled blog posts over the next few months cause I'm a California bred wimp!]  It’s cold!  (and yes I know it isn’t officially winter, but it sure feels like it!)  I am also definitely feeling the baseball void…. Can someone fast-forward me to March ’09 in Scottsdale, AZ!?!?!

What’s up this weekend?  Here we go:

Apparently it is supposed to rain tomorrow.  Hopefully Lucy and I can get in a decent walk in the a.m.  I’m quite excited to listen to my new “Death Cab for Cuties / The Killers” Playlist during our walk.  Why you ask?  WELL….  the fabulous Ayelet has generously purchased a ticket for my Birthday to Live 105′s Not so Silent Night Concert at the Oakland Arena – I feel so spoiled!

Tomorrow night?  Dinner with great friends at a local favorite where I have not been in quite a while… Bridge’s (yeah… the scene of the hot pepper incident in the movie Mrs. Doubtfire)

Sunday is the much-anticipated, certain to be a fabulous time, baby shower for my girl Kathy.  Luckily I organized the event, so I got to choose the venue…  : ) Being the vain creature I am, I chose a spa-salon where us gals could get pampered with mani-pedi’s.  Not that anyone will be seeing my toes in the next three months in light of aforementioned winter conditions… but I know I will enjoy the experience on Sunday!

Election Day at last

Today feels like a holiday and I’m starting to feel like it should be.  I have found it quite difficult to concentrate on work – instead I find myself drawn to the web for news, factoids, updates, humor related to the election, etc.

Of course this is the most historic election in recent years… after all we may elect the first Black president to the U.S. (hopefully!!!)  I am happy to see that turnout has been tremendous at the polls.

I’m glad that this day has finally arrived.  I hope that the end result reflects how I voted, but regardless of the outcome, I’ll be glad to move on and get back to normal life.  Hopefully a change in Administration will bring revived optimism (or am I being too optimistic?!?) and companies will begin to open their purse strings again… imperative in my line of work!  : )

Here is some fun stuff on the web that I have enjoyed today (instead of work!!):

SNL Presidential Mash

How the Electoral College works

Voting statistics in California

John McCain left on the bus

Happy Voting everyone.  Next time you hear from me, George W. will be closer to exiting the White House.  : )

Friday Bullets!

Happy Halloween!

I cannot tell you how happy I am to be writing in my blog at the moment.  For a while there, it wasn’t looking like I’d have a free moment to break away from work today.  I don’t know what’s going on, but suddenly people are needing to make purchase decisions like yesterday.  Remember how I described the roller coaster ride?  … well this ride has suddenly gotten a LOT hairier!

  • It’s 3:04pm and I’m guessing folks are heading home to get the kiddies ready for trick-or-treating, cause it is suddenly calm again and I can breathe.
  • Oops, now it is 5:15pm, I got stuck on calls and just lost 1/2 the blog entry so I will start over.  (expletives have been deleted)

(Where was I?  Gotta love technology).

  • I just opened a bottle of Vino (Cheers!) and I made some fudge.  The pumpkin has been carved (although the smile is a bit lopsided and freaky), but I feel very domestic.  How Martha of me!!  : )
  • Tonight I will order a pizza and wait for the kiddies to arrive for Trick-or-treat.  We tend to get a lot of cuties.
  • Tomorrow, I’m excited as Pete and I will meet up with a couple of our great gals for dinner at Maria Maria in Walnut Creek, then we’re headed to my old boss/mentor, Fran’s house for a Halloween Party.  Fran & her hubby Dave go ALL OUT for Halloween.  They must plan the event out months in advance as their home is transformed into THE ULTIMATE Halloween exhibit…. seriously they could charge an entrance fee.
  • On Sunday, I’m heading up to Wine Country – hopefully the weather won’t be too brutal for us – with a few girlfriends.  Jackie’s husband Mark is such a trooper and has agreed to chauffeur us drunken chickies around..  MAN.  What a doll!
  • Keep your fingers crossed that Lucy & I will be able to get some walkies in this weekend.

Happy Halloween, guys!  Be safe!
